Council hires EWD to design Chamoru and Refaluwasch calendars for the CNMI
October 2008
The Western Pacific Regional Fishery Management Council has hired EWD to
design lunar/tide calendars in Chamoru and Refaluwasch for the Commonwealth
of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI). The 2009 calendars are part of a
larger effort by the Fishery Council to foster and promote traditional
indigenous fishing practices in the CNMI and other Pacific Island nations.
The Chamoru and Refaluwasch are the two main indigenous groups from the
CNMI.
